COTA 2340 - Children and Youth Practice 4 Credit(s) 3 credits lecture/1 credit lab
This client-centered occupation-based course focuses on all aspects of the occupational therapy (OT) process for children and youth who may have health and/or developmental conditions leading to performance skills deficits. Emphasis is on the role of the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) in the OT process, service delivery models, frames of reference, evidence-based practice (EBP), and documentation. Specific interventions related to remediation and/or compensation techniques are addressed. The course prioritizes evelopment of treatment techniques utilizing analysis and clinical reasoning to develop creative, outcome-based interventions.
