Program Information

The Certificate in Health Data Analytics in Health Information Management is designed for professionals working in the health care field who are seeking to improve their analytics skills. The program will prepare students to sit for the Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) credential exam with the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

Industry and Career Outlook

A recent poll of open positions in health care indicated that advanced education is required for graduates to be successful in Healthcare Informatics and Analytics. (Study results available here: New Market Research Supports HIM Reimagined’s Call for Professional Adaptation (ahima.org). A search of Indeed reveals over 500 open “Health Data Analyst” positions across the country, with nearly 200 of these listing a salary of $85,000 or more, and nearly 100 of these at $100,000 or more. (Reference: Indeed.com) This program bridges the gap in education between the AAS in Health Information Technology and the Bachelors in Health Informatics and Information Management. Completing this program and sitting for the CHDA credential indicates the graduate has completed specialized coursework and is prepared for advancing in roles in Health Data Analytics.

Admission Requirements

Successful completion of an RHIT or RHIA credential from AHIMA or a bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university

Program Start Dates

Summer Semester: May/June

Graduation Requirements

All courses required for this program must be completed with a grade of C or higher.
