EMED 1511 - Pharmacology for Paramedics

This course covers the pharmacology portion of the National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Education Standards. Students learn pharmacological concepts, drug legislation, and drug categories. Emphasis is placed on commonly used medications in the emergency setting and their effects on body systems. Students apply pathophysiologic principles of pharmacology to assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement a pharmacologic management plan. This course will also provide students with a basic understanding of pharmacology necessary for safe medication administration.
