Program Information
The Anoka Technical College Information Technology (IT) Support certificate program is 15-credits of coursework and it is designed to prepare graduates to successfully compete for entry-level positions in the IT field.
The IT Support certificate Program builds the broad IT foundation needed to understand the terminology and methodologies of IT specialties in the workplace.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Recognize various types of hardware (like routers and switches) and software (like operating systems) used in networking.
- Apply basic customer service techniques to assist users with network-related issues effectively.
- Design and develop simple web pages that provide user support resources or FAQs.
- Use word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software to create documentation, reports, and training materials for end-users in an IT support context.
- Use basic data analysis tools to gather and interpret user feedback or support requests to improve service quality.
- Write basic scripts to automate routine IT support tasks, such as file backups or software installations.
Program Essentials
To support modern IT coursework, development tools, virtualization, and future‑focused software, students are strongly recommended to use a Windows‑based PC laptop that meets or exceeds the following specifications:
