MAST 1602 - Introduction to Laboratory Skills 5 Credit(s) 2 credits lecture/3 credits lab
This course is designed to introduce the student to clinical laboratory settings. The basic aspects of laboratory safety, use and maintenance of laboratory equipment, quality assurance and quality controls will discussed. Proper techniques and standard precautions in blood collection will also be discussed and demonstrated. Students will participate in Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) Waived urinalysis, and CLIA Waived testing such as urinalysis, microbiology, immunology, hematology, serology, and coagulation.
Course Prerequisite(s): HLTH 1005 , HLTH 1040 , MAST 1200 , MAST 1301 , and MAST 1401 Course Corequisite(s): MAST 1701 , MAST 2701 , and ENGL 1107
